ProComp Startup Issues with EEGer4 440x

Using a ProComp device with recent version of EEGer can produce a series of error messages that prevent the software from being opened after a fresh installation or after updating an existing installation of EEGer. This will occur if EEGer incorrectly identifies the amplifier as a ‘Wiz’ device, rather than ProSB (the type of connection some ProComps use). To avoid this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect the amplifier’s cable from the computer. This includes all connectors and adapters, not just disconnecting the amplifier itself.
  2. Once disconnected, open up the new installation of EEGer. A message should appear indicating that no amplifier was found, and that the default configuration has been set to A202.
  3. Navigate to Options>EEGer Configuration Options from the top toolbar of EEGer’s main screen.
  4. In the menu that appears, click on the Special tab and locate 9 Check amplifier once at startup. Uncheck this option.
  5. Press Close preferences window to apply changes and return to EEGer’s main screen.
  6. Close the software and reconnect the amplifier to the computer.
  7. Reopen the software - no error messages should be observed at this stage relating to the amplifier, and the configured device should remain as A202.
  8. Navigate back to the options menu and configure EEGer for use with the ProComp as normal.

If EEGer has already been opened with the amplifier connected, it may not be possible to reopen the software without receiving a series of error messages. If this is the case, the software must be reinstalled before following these steps.
