Consultation Export Files (.ECE)
When sending session data to another EEGer user, the most common method is to send a Consultation Export file (ECE). This type of file allows for EEGer to create a copy of the session on another system, allowing it to be reviewed or replayed as if the session was originally recorded on that computer.
Consultation Exports allow session data to be reviewed by a mentor or a supervising clinician remotely, which can be helpful for making adjustments, to provide suggestions, or for troubleshooting purposes. EEGer Support may also request consultation exports to help with technical issues, as they allow our team to recreate issues and identify their source.
How does a Consultation File Work?
A consultation file allows one or more sessions to be exported from an EEGer system. This consultation file can be sent to another EEGer system and, once installed, will create a copy of the session data on that computer. The original session files remain on the EEGer system that created the export, and the copy that gets created anonymizes client information that may be sensitive, such as the client’s name or birthdate.
After creating a consultation export, the file can be uploaded to the EEGer Cloud or sent to another user via email or a file sharing service. More information about this is included later in this article.
Once installed, a new Client ID will be created on the EEGer system. This new client will store the session data for review or replay purposes, as well as a copy of the latest session plan that was configured for the client.
How to Create an EEGer Consultation Export
These steps should be followed by the user who is sending session data to another EEGer system.
Navigate to Files>Consultation Import/Export>Export Consultation Data from the top toolbar of EEGer’s main screen.
Select the Client ID to export sessions from.
Select the sessions to export using the site and date information to identify the correct session files.
Each session should have a Raw and Summary file. It is recommended to select both types of files for a session when creating an export.
Selected sessions will display with red text and can be deselected by clicking again.
Once the correct sessions are selected, click OK at the bottom of the screen to create a Consultation Export file.
Once the file is created, EEGer will report where it was saved on the computer. If the export was not successful, EEGer will inform the user and report an error message. EEGer is set to export files to the computer’s desktop or C:\EEGer\Exports by default.
Locate the file on the computer to send it to another user or system.
This file can then be attached to an email, moved to a file sharing service, or copied to an external storage device.
On the latest versions of EEGer, files can also be sent using the EEGer Cloud. To access the EEGer Cloud, navigate to Utilities>Upload/Download E-files to/from cloud.
Installing an EEGer Consultation Export
To begin the installation process, the Consultation Export file must be downloaded onto the EEGer system. If the file was sent via email or an online file sharing service, it should be downloaded prior to following these instructions.
Ensure that the EEGer Security Dongle is connected, then open EEGer.
Navigate to Files>Consultation Import/Export>Import Consultation Data from the top toolbar of EEGer’s main screen.
The Windows File Explorer will appear. Navigate to where the export file is saved on the computer and open the file.
Once an export file is opened, a new window will appear listing its contents. Select the files to import by clicking on them. Entries highlighted in red will be selected. To quickly select all session data, click the protocol class at the top of the window.
Click OK to begin importing the selected data. After a few moments, EEGer will report whether the installation was successful or not.
To view the imported session data, navigate to the main screen of EEGer and press Select Client. Choose the imported Client ID to load it into the system. Session data can then be reviewed or replayed as normal.
